As part of our Catholic ethos, we aim to foster an awareness of, and generosity towards, those less fortunate in our world. To this end, we participate in a number of charitable events each year, including the 'Team Hope' Christmas Shoebox appeal, and the MS Readathon. It is important also that children realise that doing good in the world does not all revolve around the collection of money and so for instance our Confirmation pupils are encouraged to undertake 'random acts of kindness'.
Bake Sale
We had a fantastic response to our bake sale held in school last week, organised by Mrs. Sheppard and Green School Committee. Thank you sincerely to all who baked buns, cakes and brought in treats. Well done to 5th and 6th classes for helping to organise the afternoon and to Ms. Whelan, Ms. Brereton and Marion, for the delicious pancakes. Thanks to the Parents’ Council for providing tea, coffee and hot chocolate! The amount raised was €246.88 which will be donated to the Trócaire Lenten Campaign.
MS Readathon
Every year pupils from 1st to 6th class participate (on a voluntary basis) in the MS Readathon. Not only does this help raise money for a deserving cause, it also encourages the children to read more.
Team Hope
Every November the girls are invited to fill a shoebox with toys/clothes/colouring materials etc. to send, in conjunction with the Team Hope appeal, to children who may not get many gifts at Christmas time. This is a lovely meaningful way to get into the Christmas spirit.
