Active School Flag
The Active School Flag is awarded to schools that strive to achieve a physically educated and physically active school community. The process aims to get more schools, more active, more often. Scoil Bhríde is already doing many activities and initiatives whereby children have the opportunity to keep fit and active. However, the Active School Flag will aim to review, improve and introduce activities to help further promote physical activity across the school. We will keep you updated with any upcoming events. Active School Committee ASC
Our Active School Committee is made up of students from Fifth and sixth Class. Previously we had team members from all classes but our school was unable to fulfil this criterion this year due to COVID Safety Guidelines. Our ASC were involved in planning many physical activities such as our Active Advent and Active Schools Week. The girls designed each door for our Active Advent Calendar and compiled a list of suitable activities. Our ASC also created and designed five board games for Active Schools Week which were enjoyed by all.

Active Walkway
Our school has created an Active School WALKWAY route which we use to promote physical activity and cross-curricular learning. We were delighted that our Board of Management funded the creation of a Walkway around the perimeter of the school yard. This 300m gravelled walkway has been an excellent addition enabling students to use the walkway all year round.

ACTIVE SCHOOLS WEEK
As you know last week was Active Schools Week. A huge thanks to our Active School Committee for organising a fun filled week of activities. We completed our 'Daily Mile' every day and we got active in our classroom with the 'Active Dice' and 'Drop Everything and Dance' On Tuesday we had a gruelling session with John in the old Brigidine Convent. On Wednesday we were against the clock to complete a timed obstacle course to find the fastest athlete in each class. On Thursday the Active School Committee put the school through their paces as they led 'Wake Up, Shake Up' in the school yard. The Camogie team won their match and 3rd and 4th classes went swimmimg. On Friday we finished our week on a high as we completed our 5km Fun Run. We hope to achieve our First Active Flag in the near future.
