Brigid Bennett left our school in January 2016 to take up the position of principal of St Patrick's NS, Clonbullogue, Co Offaly. She was delighted to be presented with a variety of gifts to mark her leaving, in particular a 'Genesis' figurine and a framed collage of photographs from 5th/6th class that she will treasure. Brigid appreciated greatly all the kind remarks and good wishes that she received from all in the school community, and she will remember Mountrath very fondly.
Good Luck Ms. Bennett
“A teacher’s purpose is not to create students in his own image but to develop students who can create their own image”
I came upon this quote recently and it resonated with me when reflecting on Ms. Bennett and her time in Scoil Bhríde. She joined our staff in September 2003. During these years she has contributed hugely to school life both in her capacity as class teacher and as a colleague and staff member. She immersed herself in her teaching duties year after year and those who were fortunate enough to have her as a teacher benefitted hugely from her wealth of knowledge and her work ethic. As a colleague Brigid was more than willing to lend a helping hand whether in policy making at staff level or with more hands on initiatives such as Green Schools, photography or the latest Chick Project! The whole school community join with me in thanking Ms. Bennett most sincerely for her valuable contribution to the school and to the community of Mountrath. We wish her every blessing and continued success in her teaching career and in her new role as Principal in Clonbullogue. We thank her for her dedication and commitment over the last 12 and a half years and for her support and friendship.
The Board of Management of our school made a presentation to Ms. Bennett as did her staff and teaching colleagues.
