Global Citizenship Litter and waste
We achieved our sixth green flag for ‘Global Citizenship litter and waste’. We worked hard to implement positive changes in our school to reflect the current theme. Our actions and targets focused around raising awareness on how to be a global citizen and how looking after our environment aids people all over the world. We also made a huge effort to improve our school’s litter and waste management. We reviewed our previous themes and ensured the good work that was done in the past is kept up as much as possible.

In June 2015 we raised our fifth Green Flag, for biodiversity. We are lucky in that our beautiful school grounds, with green and woodland areas, located near the Whitehorse River, offers plenty of scope for exploring and encouraging bio-diversity. Among the many actions we undertook as part of our bio-diversity programme, we made a bug hotel, visited Brittas Lake in Clonaslee, made powerpoint presentations about native Irish mammals, put up extra nest boxes and bird feeders, and held a whole-school table quiz to raise awareness of the importance of bio-diversity.
